The following are my professional and personal preferences for several gear items that I highly recommend:
Holsters: I recomend a good quality Kydex holster, especially if you plan to compete or carry concealed. I like Comp-Tac, ANR Designs, and Blackpoint Tactical. They each make a holster designed for your specific firearm make and model.
First Aid: I recommend having trauma first aid items and gear in your range bag, whether training indoors or outdoors. If you choose to carry for self-defense, I HIGHLY recommend you have them on your person: CAT (Combat Applications Tourniquet), a hemostatic agent such as Quick-Clot or Celox. They help to stop or slow severe bleeding.
Tactical Flashlights: My personal carry tactical flashlight is the Surefire EDCL2-T, 1,200 lumen flashlight. I recommend a flashlight with 1,000 lumens or higher. This level of lumen output will cause a temporarily blinding level of light to a potential threat.
Tactical/Shooting/Competition Clothing: I wear 5.11 Tactical for instructing, competition and Executive Protection and Private Security details. They also carry several packs, first aid items, flashlights, etc. Be sure to check out 5.11 Tactical.
Hearing Protection: I recommend any good quality elcectronic hearing protection. Electronic hearing protection helps muffle range gun fire noise while still enabling you to hear instructor commands or any range safety commands. I personally like Walkers.
Firearm Cleaning Products: CLP (Cleaner, Lubricant and Preservative) brand products are the way to go.
Range Bags: There are a large variety and brands of range bags. I personally use 5.11 Tactical range bags or packs.
